Duke Energy begun operating the Asheville, NC battery storage system (9MW Samsung System) on August 28, 2020. This is the state’s largest energy storage system and will help Duke’s electric system within the area provide grid stability and enhanced power quality. The battery system can withstand powering approximately 1,000 homes for over four hours from a single charge.
