The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) monitors and promotes power grid stability & reliability with regulatory standards and enforcement’s. NERC is now showing concerns for the future reliability and stability of the power grid due to the rapid rate of fossil and nuclear unit retirements and plant shutdowns. NERC’s fear is that with the decreasing power supply, power utilities, during peak times, may not able to keep up with customer power demands, resulting in widespread brownouts or blackouts causing major power interruptions to customers.
